| Описание |
I – When she cam ben she bobbit II – Cock up your Beaver
I chose for this work the only two known sets of variations by the blind Irish harper, Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). Interestingly these are the only instances that I know of in which Carolan uses pre-existent material, and this pre-existent material is not Irish, but Scottish.
In both settings only the melody is present, so I added all the other parts, in the style of Classical music of the time.
I have in many ways respected Carolan's sets, though I added some extra variations of my own, which are indicated on the score.
The alternation of metres is to be found in the original variations by Carolan. |
